The Value, a new play

Synopsis: A trio of petty thieves are hiding out in a cheap motel room. They have just stolen a painting but do not know its title, the artist who painted it, or what it might be worth. They only know the name of the man who desperately wants it. The painting holds a different possibility for each of them and the desire to possess it ultimately dictates the price.


Self-Tape Information:

If auditioning via self-tape please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Please slate with your name, location, and height.

  • Read at least one side for your character from the Audition Packet (see info below). Include in the body of your Email your name, the role(s) for which you are auditioning and your telephone number.

  • Submit your self-tape to to Frank@RockawayTheatreCompany.org on or before Sunday, March 30 at 12am EST.

Character Breakdown

IAN- 30’s; Not highly educated but smart, clever and savvy. Deep feeling and passionate, but an enigma. Marginalized by society and this injustice motivates him.  Conceals deep scars.

ZOEY-  20’s or 30’s; Has a past with Ian.  Boisterous and bold. Not easily frightened or intimidated. Rough around the edges, but fiercely loyal. Older sister of Victor.

 

VICTOR-  20’s or early 30’s; Grew up with his sister Zoey, until he was arrested on drug possession charges. Spent two years in prison, recently released. A goldfish among piranhas.

 

MCEVOY- 50’s or 60’s; Upper-middleclass, cultured and highly educated. Art Curator for a large museum. Not normally a risk taker, but he’s just stumbled into the greatest risk of his life and is emotionally unprepared.
